This one comes with 4 camera’s but will take up to 8. The camera quality is pretty excellent. The night vision works fantastic.
If you haven’t used one of these before the setup can be a small confusing but if you aren’t sure what to do they offer an installation service through a local contractor. Most people should be able to do this on their own.
The user interface is very simple to work with.
Things you should do with any camera system !!!!!
ONE,, If possible, locate the dvr in a hidden area , not out in the open where a burglar can take it.. This holds your evidence. I am an electrician so I ran wiring into a hidden spot in my house that is hard to access. I installed a 4 plug outlet and all of the wiring going in and out of the dvr is hidden.
Also hide the camera wiring as best as possible
TWO,, Although the camera’s are water resistant it is a excellent thought to install them under a soffit close to the door’s and window’s you want to monitor.
This protects them from the weather better as the rain on the lenses can make it hard to see anything. Remember, You aren’t trying to see who is coming, you want to point the camera’s directly at any access points to you home or business. The police will want to see the person breaking in,, NOT just approaching the building !! At close range, even at night these camera’s are excellent enough to catch a excellent, clear image of people at your door or around your house.
THREE,,, Having motion sensor lights located near the cameras helps but do not point them at the camera’s,, this will wash out he image’s. I have found that for the most part lights are fantastic but not needed.
Notes,,, This camera system has a lot of features including zoom ( for these camera’s ),,,( not pan and tilt ) for that you will need a PTZ camera which can be bought separately. You can also adjust the sensitivity for motion detection an even block out selected area’s on each camera that you don’t want to activate the recording process such as flags or shrubbery blowing in the wine wind.. You can adjust brightness, color and contrast as well. Adjusting each camera separately for motion detection and motion sensitivity is best for saving time searching for a particular time and day..
As I mentioned earlier I have used a Swann system before and based on many customer review’s about poor customer service with other systems purchasing this one was a no brainer. Swann has a USA based support team and they are very helpful . There is a customer service phone number and they don’t leave you hanging ..
This dvr has a 500 GB hard drive installed which works fantastic and hold’s lots of video. It has an HDMI out port so you can hook it up to an HDTV as well as through your wireless router. It also has another port to hook a monitor directly to the DVR . I plot to add more camera’s to in in the future.
I live in Florida now but the system I sold with my ancient house in upstate New York place up with very extreme weather condition’s with temperature’s going below zero. These camera’s sold with this system are made with metal housing’s ( not plastic )..
Getting to know the program takes a small doing if your not familiar with these ( as with any camera system ) but just play around with it and read the instruction’s and in no time you will be up and running. If your looking for a camera system that is not too expensive this a fantastic choice. There are cheaper one’s but you DO get what you pay for.. For the average user this is well worth the money..

|Honeymoon Period – Finished Quickly,
Then 2 of the 4 cameras simply gave out on me, with intermittent function in daylight. None at night. I tried different cables only to find the cameras still didn’t work correctly.
